Developing a meaningful understanding of Judaism
While there are Jewish communities all around the world, Israel, the birthplace of Judaism, Christianity and Islam, is the only country in the world to have a majority Jewish population. So, it only makes sense to combine Jewish & Israel studies, which you can add to any major at Susquehanna University. Jewish & Israel studies will provide you with a foundation for understanding one of the world’s ancient religions whose oral traditions date back 4,000 years.
If you are seeking to broaden your cultural, intellectual or spiritual horizons, this minor will appeal to you. The study is a good companion to religious studies, creative writing. History and even business as there is a greater workplace emphasis on being fluent in and appreciative of diversity, equity and inclusion. You will learn take classes in Judaism, Jewish literature and the Holocaust.
You also will have the opportunity to join classmate and friends at the Hillel House to observe the Jewish Sabbath and participate in making the Shabbat meal, or the high holidays of Rosh Hashanah or Yom Kippur.
